Charlie Vintage Pinup Sketch
Got something actually sketched up! Again, spent more time poring through my favs on Tumblr and devouring more vintage livingrooms/furniture and pinups.
Still working towards that quest of finding what I like about drawing and comics again. My plan is to try the whole lineless/construction-paper look to this one, too. It’d be nice to get it done in time for posting up Monday on the site to give an update to all the people waiting for the next page and at least let them know “hey, no page coming anytime soon”.
Bows and Corsets Pinup
First full picture I’ve finished from scratch since the last page of the comic in November. Whew!
I’ve done this kind of pinup a lot the last year - I’ve grown a love of vintage wallpaper and furniture and fashion/lingerie to match up with my love of pinups and curvy ladies and corsets. Also, really love drawing super-thick legs.
This was inspired solely by browsing through corset and burlesque groups on Tumblr.
If only I could write a story that involved nothing but vintage wallpaper, rooms, and corsets. That would be pretty awesome, but it would probably take five years to draw.
(Also worth noting that this isn’t Charlie. Sure it’s basically her body, AND it’s a red-head, but I just like drawing that shape, and this doesn’t really suit her.)
Random girl in a random living room.
I haven’t actually drawn from scratch (as in penciling) in about 6 weeks. Found a bit of time and wanted to see if I could still draw. Took a while to figure out WHAT I wanted to draw, but luckily all the fashion blogs I follow on Tumblr continue to be inspiring in a pinch.
That’s the start of a wallpaper print on the wall, too. Probably going to shrink it then stamp it around if I get to finish this.
Thanks to the feedback on the different hairstyles, I’ve decided to do a series of three pin-ups of Charlie sporting a different hairstyle in each. All three have Charlie dolled up in a Victorian-ish house.
Here’s the first!
I’m going to get the other two up this week, and then print them up (along with a bunch of other pictures) and finally pull the trigger on that Etsy store I’ve been flirting with.
