Summer Pinup Alex
And now Alex’s turn on the fan-service pinup wagon. Oh summer. Where you at?
“So” I thought to myself, “I’m having a hard time drawing and should try to do up some like, storyboards/concepts of the next scene to get the blood flowing. And hey, let’s do big group scenes with full backgrounds! That’ll help. And maybe if I draw them on a 16 by 9 inch 300dpi canvas I can REALLY whip these up.”
Turns out I was completely wrong, and this picture has been completely killing me the last two weeks. Now I only have three weekends to get the next pages of the comic done and no art to show for myself.
I’m not a great artist, and struggle every step of the way - art for me is very much the ‘art is pain’ cliche. Art is nothing but pain for me - it’s hours of my life spent on things I end up hating in the end. A realization that perfectly encapsulates my relationship with art and might drive me insane if I think about it too much.
I don’t know if I’ll keep drawing comics after this story is done, but for now I can’t stand the idea of anyone else drawing it, so I guess you’re stuck with me.
Moleskin sketch of Charlie and Alex at a pool.
There was a quick flurry of sketches I did up while at Disneyland - it was getting really hot and most of these sketches are about cooling off. It’s definitely not the best and kind of makes me flinch but it’s got some qualities. Swimsuits!
Alex as Batgirl.
Struggling with getting some comic juices running, so I’m taking suggestions on what to draw in the hopes that getting some sketches under my belt will get me going.
Someone from the cast dressed as a superhero came up, and I thought I would go back to DC again. I’m liking them more and more, at least on a design level. Especially the animated stuff.
I don’t really do these enough, but I don’t know if people actually care about seeing these. It’s a larger shot from an upcoming panel from the comic.
